Word to Action: Media Literacy for Change is a 24-month Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership (KA220-YOU) bringing together organisations from Romania, Spain, Bulgaria and Slovenia to strengthen media literacy, critical thinking and civic participation among young people and youth workers.

In today’s digital society, information travels faster than ever before. While digital technologies offer unprecedented opportunities for learning, participation and collaboration, they also expose young people to misinformation, manipulation, hate speech and increasingly sophisticated forms of online influence. Developing the ability to critically assess information, verify sources and communicate responsibly has therefore become an essential competence for active citizenship.

Word to Action responds to these challenges by combining media literacy, digital storytelling, video activism and gamification into an innovative non-formal learning approach tailored to the needs of young people and youth workers.

Throughout the project, the international partnership will develop a series of practical, high-quality educational resources, including:

A Methodology and Educational Framework for media literacy education;

A Gamification Guide for Civic Activism;

A Video Activism Toolkit supporting digital storytelling and responsible online communication;

Training materials and learning activities for youth workers;

Dissemination resources and policy recommendations to encourage the wider use of the project’s results across Europe.

Beyond developing educational materials, the project aims to create a vibrant European learning community where young people become active participants in democratic life. By encouraging creativity, collaboration and responsible digital engagement, Word to Action helps participants move beyond simply recognising misinformation to producing reliable, ethical and meaningful digital content that can positively influence their communities.

All project results will be developed collaboratively by the partnership and published as Open Educational Resources (OER), making them freely accessible for youth organisations, educators, trainers and other stakeholders across Europe.

Ultimately, Word to Action seeks to transform media literacy into civic action—empowering young people not only to think critically, but also to participate actively, communicate responsibly and contribute to a more informed, resilient and democratic society.

From critical thinking to meaningful action. Empowering young people to navigate media responsibly and become active citizens.
